Justin West is a British-born surfer, former professional 7s rugby player, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu European Masters gold medalist, high-level surf coach, farmer, and exhibited contemporary artist.

A surf coach with over 30 years of experience, Justin founded Justin West Coaching to train intermediate, advanced, and elite-level surfers using cutting-edge video analysis. Building on that expertise, he is now Founder and CEO of WPSL (Wave Pool Surf League), a new arena-based surf league built for wave pools—bringing controlled, broadcast-ready conditions, night finals under lights, and fan-driven judging to competitive surfing. WPSL1 is set to launch at Adrena, Saudi Arabia, with Justin leading a team that includes co-founder Dan Luger MBE, 1988 World Champion Barton Lynch, and big wave legend Jamie Mitchell.

Justin previously worked in advertising and media for clients such as Sunseeker International luxury motor yacht brand and Westerly Yachts.

Now living in Portugal's Alentejo region, he hosts Podcast Portugal, where he explores the stories, people, and passions shaping modern Portugal.

Painting under the name Durães-West, Justin's large-scale abstract works have been exhibited at the Urban Art Museum, Taguspark, Galeria Miosotis in Lisbon, and Al-Tiba9 in Barcelona.

His artistic and athletic pursuits—surfing, martial arts, and painting—reflect a lifelong fascination with movement in time and space.

He lives with his partner Rita and their son Martim, restoring Monte Santa Maria, building a sound and art studio, and cultivating farmland—living the balance of body, mind, and place that defines his work and podcast ethos.
